Barcelona, Absolutes 2009 Release

I originally did the packaging and photography for Barcelona’s 2007 release of Absolutes—seen here—and was happy to hear Universal Motown wanted to re-release their record.

Their new record features the original photo I shot on the cover as well as some fine photography by Jordan Butcher.

Barcelona, Absolutes CD

I had such a great time making this. I even included photographs shot in Charlotte, NC! This record was designed and printed to have substance, weight and an ethereal feel.

I used some great uncoated paper and also did a little something special with the disc to make it look foggy! Additionally, I created a custom identity for them and designed their website.

Slushai

This has to be one of my favorite projects ever. In addition to being the still photographer, I designed the movie’s site as well as elements you see in the film.I had lots of fun in processing these, including lighting candles, adding a little fog in a couple shots, and giving the photos their beautiful tone.

Slushai Site

Set in the future, Slushai (meaning “listen”) is a beautiful short film about a man stuck in a police state. He slowly begins to realize what life has become for him and decides to overcome.

I designed and built the site to meet a few goals. One was to give a more theatrical experience when watching the trailer, so I provided a custom Flash video player to stream the video from their site that also dimmed the lights while you watched.

Another was to have a new twist on the “futuristic low-fi” feel. I used a few techniques to effect the images and used lots of nice textures to flesh out everything.

I was also responsible for the promotional photography and designing other elements in this film.

Telephone Line Echoes

This was a very fun adventure in processing and technique. It’s just a few degrees shy of a 360º panorama! One fun thing about this photo: that sky wasn’t added after the shot. Page ahead for more views.

Shot in Endy, NC, these were more experiments with color and processing. I wanted to share the before and afters with you here.
