APhotoFolio iPad App

APhotoFolio is a great service that eases the pain of photographers having to carry a printed portfolio around when showing off their work. It’s a web service that offers a web and mobile portfolio. This app works with the APhotoFolio service to let a photographer choose what photos and video sync onto their iPad. It also lets them show off other bits about who they’ve worked with and how to contact them.

It’s available for free on the App Store. The service will cost ya, but the app won’t!

Weddings Unveiled Website

The fine folks at Weddings Unveiled have a great quarterly magazine for brides-to-be. Lots of great photos, resources and tips for making a wedding go off without a hitch (well, other than the hitch). They didn’t have a stellar website, so I helped them completely reform theirs.

They really wanted to recreate the magazine experience on the web. So I created a big, beautiful wedding flipbook that let you browse the entire issue, complete with links to every product mentioned inside the magazine. I also completely revitalized their advertiser pages to be much more concise and easy to browse, among other nice improvements. The entire site runs off of WordPress, so it’s also super simple to update.

Twalkin Web App

In addition to the iPhone app, I oversaw the planning and design for the site’s UI. I made sure the site was dead simple to use and that new users could very easily navigate and understand the site.

The site makes it simple to create and share twalks—you can even post them to your Twitter.

Twalkin iPhone App

This beauty of an iPhone app was designed to seamlessly integrates with Twalkin’s upcoming service. It allows a user to browse, create and save twalks—all with just a few taps. The goal for this project was twofold: make the app smart but dead simple to use. In this app, you’ll see just that.

Barcelona iPhone App

This is an iPhone app I designed for a band called Barcelona. The idea was to merge pretty album artwork with their music and information from their blog, Twitter and other little goodies.

Among other things, users can get the latest news, find shows near them, view exclusive content and send the band a text message!

Brooks Wood Website

Brooks contacted me to design a simple, small website for his music that would serve up all kinds of fun things for his fans. He wanted to have the site act as a hub for his online activity, integrating his Twitter, Flickr and WordPress blog. He also wanted it to be easy for people to connect with him on every social site he frequents and be able to update it from his iPhone from backstage.

Leyendecker Landscape

Portia is a Houston-based landscaper who believes in doing her job organically, sustainably and ethically. When she approached me about designing her site, I was happy to help. She wanted something clean, simple and easy to use—both for herself and for her visitors.

With that in mind, I developed a WordPress-based site that she can easily update and manage. I also got to use some fun new tricks like using CSS-based animations and found some ways of making forms easier (also less boring) to fill out. This site looks amazing in modern browsers like Safari, Chrome and Firefox, but I also made sure those without the latest and greatest can still have a great experience. Reality Photography Website

Debora, a Houston-based photographer, contacted me to refresh her outdated, all-Flash site. I wanted to give her something she could easily update any time she liked, as well as something that was SEO-friendly, kept in line with web standards and basically ran itself.

I wanted to make sure this site showcased her great photography, so I gave lots of room for her to show off big, beautiful images. I also incorporated textures that Debora had shot to make the site a little more unique. Her site also has an iPhone-optimized version of her site! Have a look at Debora’s site for yourself!

Loomis & The Lust Press Site

Loomis & The Lust came to me needing a small site for industry promoters. They wanted people to be able to quickly download tracks from their debut EP, get their logo and view press materials in a snap. And they had nothing to work with except a few photographs.

In light of that, I designed and completed an EP cover, the site and their logo in just a few days so they could get some attention. Here’s the live press site.

American Idol Widget

This widget allowed the user to switch out the content at will to see the latest news, show recaps, special Idol resources, or the latest TV schedule!

In addition to being an Apple.com staff pick, it received over 10,000 downloads its first month AND was their #1 featured download!

Boeing 2008 Environmental Report

This project was Boeing’s first ever environmental report. The goal of the design was to make a simple, easily scannable report that highlighted 4 key elements of their message and detailing their environmental efforts. We designed this site to be from Boeing’s perspective: several thousand feet in the air! We also included some fun interactive data visualizations!

This was also translated into a report printed on recycled paper and translated into several other languages. The talented folks at Methodologie tapped me to design this with them.

Emery, I’m Only a Man Site

This site promoted Emery’s record, “I’m Only A Man.” We designed it to be very fun, and let people leave messages on fogged-over mirrors, make their own postcards with their faces and threw in everything including the kitchen sink! (We made the sink into an audio player)

We also recorded our own video as a method of transitioning between sections. It was a fabulous experience.

John Mellencamp Site

John Mellencamp & Co. contacted The Squad to design and plan his new site. He’s very much about small towns and all things Americana, so we discussed giving his site a more midwestern, rugged theme. I came up with all kinds of fun elements, including photography I shot, to work within this theme.

They ultimately decided to go in another direction, but I was still really proud of this and wanted to share.

Machine Entertainment Website

When Machine Entertainment approached me about overhauling their 10 year old website cluttered with old, duplicated and non-functioning pages I jumped at the chance. As a comparison, you can see the old site in these images, too.

They wanted a new site that was going to give them the ability to interact more with their clients, so I made certain they were able to do that. I was able to give them a new site that’s simple to navigate and understand, had a blog and simple—yet elegant— forms that were easy to use.

Slushai Site

Set in the future, Slushai (meaning “listen”) is a beautiful short film about a man stuck in a police state. He slowly begins to realize what life has become for him and decides to overcome.

I designed and built the site to meet a few goals. One was to give a more theatrical experience when watching the trailer, so I provided a custom Flash video player to stream the video from their site that also dimmed the lights while you watched.

Another was to have a new twist on the “futuristic low-fi” feel. I used a few techniques to effect the images and used lots of nice textures to flesh out everything.

I was also responsible for the promotional photography and designing other elements in this film.
