man, this is powerful stuff!

to be honest with you, i am kinda frozen here in a state of wanting to thank you for posting it and associating the experience of jill's words in my life.

my sister is currently in the fight of her life / brain cancer / left hemisphere / the stroke that was caused by the growth / surviving & appreciating life with a passion similar to what we see in jill's speech.

i cannot wait to share this video with her.
and Thank You for posting this on your blog for others to find.

sincerely, debora

I used PicLens a while back, it was pretty cool but not a lot of sites were enabled. Now that they've got the potential to enable any site, I'm lots more excited about it.

I've been following amazonmp3 on twitter, as they also indicate the 5 Friday $5 albums. I just tried the RSS feed you indicate, but the links go back to a yahoo pipes page instead of Amazon. Does that happen to you?

That's a great tutorial.

When I redid the basement bathroom in my parents' house, for some reason I didn't reinstall the tp holder. The tp went into a basket sitting on the back of the toilet. Since then (now ~6 years), in every apartment I've lived in, I've never put the tp on the holder. Granted, I don't have a basket for it, but it sits quite contentedly on the back. I think the best thing about this is that there's no easier way (that I can think of) to replace the tp. But before this shift in habit, I always insisted on overhanging (and sometimes switch it to overhanging in underhanging bathrooms, even in bathrooms of homes/buildings I am visiting).

This was an excellent video! And this is exactly why we homeschool. Have ever told you that Daniel learned how to add by running around the house. His mind kept the knowledge best when he was moving. Schools, where kids sit all day and wait, are not designed for kids! Thanks for the intro to TED, I am enjoying it!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying out new things for my blog and hadn't been quite happy with just having a widget in my sidebar.

After a few days of having my tweets display on my blog I've found it isn't quite what I'd like to have either, it got a little annoying for me too. So I took it out all together and am considering remixing the blog a little to incorporate more than just my posts here.

More on that soon. :) Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m trying out new things for my blog and hadn’t been quite happy with just having a widget in my sidebar.

After a few days of having my tweets display on my blog I’ve found it isn’t quite what I’d like to have either, it got a little annoying for me too. So I took it out all together and am considering remixing the blog a little to incorporate more than just my posts here.

More on that soon. :) Thanks again.

I'm not sure who your website caters to exactly, but I have to say that I will be disappointed if you have all of your twitter posts appear as individual blog posts. Since I subscribe to your blog posts and your twitter posts via rss, I will have to delete one of those feeds or I will get double posts every time. The obvious answer for me would be to stop following you on twitter (I would still see your twitter posts from your blog), but then I wouldn't be able to reply to your tweets. Or I could just suck it up and read your posts twice. Hmm. Just a thought.

Another idea would be to have your twitter posts show up on your website in a sidebar (via javascript or something) rather than having them as individual blog posts... This is what I do, so it is obviously my favorite choice :)

I'm trying to imagine if someone video conferencing on their iphone in the corner of a Starbucks would be as annoying/awkward as someone seemingly talking to themselves on their bluetooths.
Also, grey is my favorite color, so I am pleased.

So many good ideas here. It's like trying to fix a house by adding a new coat of paint. The house will still fall apart if you don't take down a few walls and put it back together. I won't ever be paid for such services, but it's good to remember as I work on my own site.

That's crazy that they got W on Deal or No Deal. At least he can joke about his low approval rating.

I was thinking that the candidates' speeches were pretty cheesy, then I remembered what show they were on.

I started using MAMP a few months back and love it. It really saves time over having to upload files left and right, even if your using Coda.

If the script is anywhere close to being as good as these shots, the film should do quite well.

Wow. MAMP looks pretty good, and seems like it could take care of a lot of stuff for me. Thanks for sharing!

No, I don't use this to view my blogs locally. I think that might change now that I know about MAMP, but I currently have a staging site which hosts tests installations of software that requires databses, etc.

That train yard is crazy! So is the css Homer. I've got major respect for the person who coordinated that. It's a shame about the man in the elevator - what a sad way he lived his life aferwards.

Mine is 1920x1200. I think a website formatted to that size would be too much for my tiny brain to handle. :)

I should have added that I agree with your assessment that we should work around the 1024x768 dimensions, if even for the selfish reason that my monitor is 1280x800.

When I did my first real theme for my site, it was a single column of 500 pixels. This was then expanded to 600. My dad uses a big monitor and wanted it wider. I added a simple css hack and cookies so that it could be 600px or 80% wide. With the latest, the total content width is 900 (300 + 600), but the header image is much wider and left aligned so that the image can stretch further with wider browsers. This has seemed to keep people happy.
