Regardless of whether you’re for, against, or apathetic about Obama, I’ve seen this image floating around recently and wanted to bring something to light about this photo where he’s answering the phone: � it’s a fake. � And as far as this Photoshop nerd is concerned, it’s a pretty poor fake.

How you can spot the fake:

• Look closely at his sleeve where the phone cord used to be, and you’ll see a slight bump where someone brushed out the phone cord.
• Look at the wall, you’ll find the clock it set to 3am, and in the original there actually isn’t a clock to begin with, nor do the lack of shadows around it make it look real at all.

Shame on you bad Photoshoppers! :)

Since I moved to Seattle, I’ve always wanted a good shot of this, and yesterday I finally got it. I shot this from the car. I have a reaaaaly bad habit of doing that. But lots of my favorite shots have been taken that way! I’ll have to make a post dedicated to that sometime soon.

I get asked a lot to show the original images I use when I create packaging or other photos. So I’m going to post one for the photo “If Only.”

Before:

The original photo was actually the last shot I took in the shoot, and took it on a whim. I asked my friend Emilie to put the flowers in the field (that’s her on the side) and shot away! The results were really astonishing when I began to play with it in PhotoShop. I hope you aren’t sad to learn the sky wasn’t really there. :)
